The email I received from Dad...
Hi Jim,
I had to share you with this. Last week I sent an email to Madeleine and attached
my composition of "BOGEY'S BLUES AT RICK'S PLACE". She responded to that email with
this one. She even attached my arrangement of the song from that movie. What a lovely
woman she is. I wish that I had her command of the words. She should have been a
writer.
I wanted you to see how beautifully she fitted the email paper background
to the letter. She is a treasure ;-
Enjoy, Dad

Hi Mel.........
First of all, I must acknowledge your most recent E-mails by separate correspondence in order of receipt. Your beautiful letter of 16/10/00 with attachment titled Bogey's Blues at Rick's Place is a treasure. Thank you for your kindness, Mel.
Do you remember an old Humphrey Bogart movie, Casablanca? In the movie his drinking hole was named 'Ricks Place' and the black piano player played his tormenting love song for him. Remember he told him "play it, you played it for her, now play it for me!".........Well it brought back memories for me about a year ago and I composed this tune in remembrance of that movie. I titled my tune.............BOGEY'S BLUES AT RICK'S PLACE.............
Yes, Mel, I remember it well. As I listen to your music, Bogey's Blues at Rick's Place, it brings back many fond memories of the spectacular love story. The beautiful yet mournful solo tenor saxophone personifies the soul of Rick/Bogart and of course, the melody fittingly is carried by the acoustic piano. Thank you for sharing another great works, Mel!
